Prof. Dr. Klaus Augsburg, TUIL Supervisor
Prof. Augsburg was born in Dresden, Germany on 30.12.1954. He received the Dipl. -Ing. qualification in 1977 and the Dr. -Ing. qualification in 1985 from the Technical University of Dresden. In 1977 he became Research assistant at the Technical University of Dresden and from 1984 he worked as Research Engineer at PNEUMANT Reifenwerk (Riesa, Germany). From 1987 to 1990 he was Head of Department of Technical Computing, at INFESTO-Kraftfahrzeugzubehörwerke, Dresden. From 1990 to 1993 he worked as Development Engineer at GOETZE Dresden GmbH (Burscheid, Germany). In 1993 he became Senior Assistant Professor at Technical Unviersity of Dresden. Since 1999 he is the Head of Department of Automotive Engineering and Full Professor at the Ilmenau University of Technology. Since 2004 he is also Vice-rector for Science at Ilmenau Unviersity of Technology.
Prof. Augsburg has an outstanding expertise in brake design and tyre dynamics. In this area he has been involved as the principal investigator or coordinator in many research projects on international and industrial level. Currently he is lieable for the supervision of 25 post-doc researchers and PhDs on EU, national, and industry level. He is also Chairman of Working Committee for Automotive Engineering, The Association of German Engineers (VDI) and Head of Steinbeis Transfer Centre for Atomotive Engineering. He is author and co-author of more than 60 scientific papers, among journal, book chapters and conference proceeding, and he boasts more then 10 patent documents.
